The Importance of a Wedding Video: Why It's Worth the Investment

Updated: Jul 27, 2023

Hey there! I'm Dalton from Spark Cinema, a Wedding Videographer right in the heart of St. Louis, Missouri! Planning a wedding can be a whirlwind (as I'm sure you know), and one question I often hear is - "Do I really need a wedding videographer?" Maybe you're asking yourself that right now, since you have a budget and everything adds up so quickly! Well, let's break it down and see if it's worth it.

Preserving Every Precious Moment

Imagine this: years from now, you're cozied up with your partner, reliving the laughter, the tears, the words of love spoken on your wedding day. That's the beauty of a wedding video. It's your personal portal back to one of the most magical days of your life. One thing that couples often overlook is just how fast their wedding day will go by. I personally even said this before my wedding day, but even I didn't know that it went by EVEN FASTER than I thought. So fast in fact, I didn't remember the whole part of every speech, or maybe didn't notice a special moment that happened as we were walking in, etc. The beauty of your own wedding video is not only are you able to watch your best day ever all over again, but you get to see moments that you might not remember or never even saw yourself on your wedding day!

Not Your Grandma's Wedding Video

If you're picturing the hours-long, shaky, and often dull videos from your parents' wedding, stop right there! If I ever hear the phrase "We will probably only watch it once anyways," that is most likely because the above is what they picture as their wedding video. However, modern wedding videography is a whole different ballgame. Your wedding video will be a high-quality, cinematic short film that tells the unique story of your love. It will typically be anywhere from 3-7 minutes. It's enjoyable, easily shared with loved ones, and a joy to rewatch.

Photos Capture a Moment, Videos Capture the Feeling

Photos are fantastic! They capture a moment, a snapshot in time. Which of course, is why you need a Photographer. But a video? It encapsulates the entire atmosphere of your special day - the laughter during the toasts, Dad tearing up during your first dance, the joy in your guests' faces. It allows you to relive not just the events, but the feelings of your wedding day. Which to me, is the most priceless reason of all.

Sharing the Love and Looking to the Future

Sadly, not everyone we love can attend our wedding. A video allows those who couldn't be there in person to share in the joy and excitement of your day. And think about showing your future kids or even grandkids the story of your love - it's a gift for future generations.

Investment: More Than Just a Price Tag

Yes, wedding videos definitely come with a cost. I had my wedding just last year, so trust me, I understand! But remember, it's more than just a video - it's a keepsake of memories, emotions, and moments. It's a way to step back into the day where you pledged your lives to each other. And trust me, that's an investment you won't regret.

As you're piecing together your wedding day plans, consider making room for a videographer. It's a choice you'll cherish for years to come. If you're still hunting for the perfect videographer, I'm always here to chat! But regardless of who you choose, I hope you decide to include videography in your day to capture all those special moments.

Happy Wedding Planning!
